Microscopic dentistry helps us to precisely examine teeth and perform operations at a microscopic level. When using the high magnification during procedures, we are able to see microscopic details that are simply impossible to visualize with either the naked eye or even loupes. By using surgical operating microscopes, dental restorations have an incredibly precise fit and finish. Microscopic dentistry provides a precision in dental care that is exceptional.
The Benefits of Microscopic Dentistry
The ability to use very high levels of magnification to improve diagnosis and treatment is transforming the way that modern dentists operate. Postgraduate Endodontic programs now require Surgical Operating Microscope (SOM) training as a standard part of the curriculum. Many dentists are very skeptical about the capabilities of the microscope. Dentists can not truly appreciate the benefits of Microscopic Dentistry unless they are using one. Once you do, you will understand what a huge difference it makes in the quality of treatment that can be performed.
Which Dental Microscope is Best?
Dr. Steinberg uses a Global® Surgical Operating Microscope. Global has taken a particular interest in Microscopic Dentistry. Global microscopes are more expensive, but the "hands on" support that you get from their representatives, the quality optics and the large number of Endodontists that use them are testimony of their general acceptance as a very fine choice. There are several other Surgical Operating Microscope (SOM) manufacturers. They include Zeiss, Leica and Seiler. |
