Laser Implant Therapy
Laser implant therapy saves dental implants that have become infected. Although dental implants have a high success rate, peri-implant disease can lead to failure. An accumulation of bacteria and plaque in the tissues surrounding a dental implant causes inflammation, the destruction of bone and the contamination of the implant surfaces. To prevent infected dental implants from failing, the surrounding tissues and the implant surfaces must be decontaminated.
Since cleaning dental implant surfaces with chemicals or mechanical tools can damage the implant, the Er:YAG dental laser is used to safely remove bacterial deposits from the implant. The Nd:YAG dental laser or an appropriate diode laser is used to decontaminate bone and soft tissues surrounding dental implants that have become infected.
