Your First Visit | Howard M. Steinberg, DMD, MDS

Your initial appointment will be a complimentary get-acquainted consultation. It’s your chance to get to know us so that you can decide if our dental office is a good fit for you. Feel free to ask questions about your smile, the function of your teeth, your oral health, the cost of treatment, and financing options.

If you want to go ahead, we will schedule a comprehensive examination that will take about an hour and a half. When you arrive for that examination, you will meet Dr. Steinberg’s office manager and his assistant. They will take you to an exam room, where they will take a full series of x-rays or cone beam CT images of your mouth. A dental assistant will chart your teeth.

Exam

Dr. Steinberg will then come in to spend about an hour with you. He’ll check the charting of your teeth and will review your dental and medical history. He’ll ask you what you expect from him so that he can be sure to meet your needs.

He’ll then conduct a hard and soft tissue exam, including occlusal evaluation, assessing vertical dimension analyzing the movements of your jaw, looking for any signs of abnormalities. He is particularly interested in seeing if there is excessive wear of your teeth or signs of grinding or clenching or any other discomfort. He will also screen for gum disease and will evaluate the aesthetics of your smile. Your exam will include a full set of photos, including intraoral photos.

After Dr. Steinberg completes your exam, we will discuss your treatment options, and you will schedule future appointments for your dental cleaning and treatment. If your treatment needs are extensive, he will ask you to come in for an additional complimentary consultation to discuss those needs and your treatment options.

Technology in Our Office

Dr. Steinberg invests in advanced technology to provide state-of-the-art care. That includes imaging tools such as digital x-rays and the PreXion Cone beam CT scanner. We use the iTeros digital scanner to create a detailed impression of your mouth without needing messy impression materials.

Dr. Steinberg uses specialized equipment, such as DIAGNOdent or Cari-Vu, to detect cavities. Click here to read more about the use of laser fluorescence technology to detect decay.

With Waterlase and AT Powerlase lasers he can perform a number of procedures quickly, precisely, and with no discomfort.

Our office also has a fully equipped laboratory.

Your Comfort

Your comfort is our priority. Each treatment room has pillows to support your neck and body and blankets to keep you warm. Heated cushions with massage capability are soothing, especially during lengthy appointments. Enjoy coffee while you wait.
