Putting My Teeth In With SuperGlue

Question submitted by Lula:

I have been having a horrible time with my teeth. They are so bad that I can’t go out anymore without feeling ashamed. They’ve recently started falling out.  I’ve started putting them back in with Superglue. They flap when I do that and they feel absolutely awful. Plus, I’m tired of breathing in the fumes. Is there anything I can to fix this?

Lula

Dear Lula,

Woman covering her mouth with her hand.

If your teeth are just falling out of your mouth, then you have very advanced gum disease. If it is as bad as it sounds, then it may not be possible to save your teeth at this point. See a dentist just to make sure because, if they are savable AND you are willing to put in the work, it is always better to keep your natural tooth structure. I’ll be honest with you that it is a huge long shot that you can save them at this point.

The reality is that you are very likely going to lose your teeth. In that case, the next best thing you can do is get implant supported dentures. However, You will need your gum disease treated. You will also need to have bone grafting done. That lost bone is essential to keep the dental implants which will anchor your dentures secure in your mouth.

Once those things are taken care of, then you can get the implants you need and have dentures anchored to them. This will give you a smile you can be proud of. Going out will be something you’ll do just to show off your new smile.

I’m not going to lie to you. It will be a lot of work, but your quality of life, along with the way you view yourself (and others view you) will all go up dramatically.
